TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Monkeypox or Monkeypox has the potential to enter Indonesia.

This was conveyed by the Epidemiologist Griffith University Dicky Budiman.

“Because the current global era allows humans to fly to other countries quickly. It is even suspected that indexi cases occurred in Europe, namely in English it was in April. So that means almost two months ago,” said Dicky Budiman to Tribunnews.com, Friday (27/5/2022).

This means that the incubation period of almost three weeks for certain populations plus close physical contact for a long time can pose a big risk.

“The Mongkeypox case already exists in many countries. Apart from Europe itself. Including in this connection, Indonesia has potential,” said Dicky.

What’s more, it’s still a pandemic and the government has begun to relax health protocols.

According to Dicky, there is a phenomenon of revenge or freedom carried out by the community in response to the relaxation of health protocols.

This of course raises vulnerabilities, either monkeypox, or acute hepatitis.

Even though it’s not comparable to a pandemic Covid-19.

Mongkeypox in terms of the speed of transmission, said Dicky, is still below Covid-19.

“But this Mongkeypox can’t be underestimated. In quotes, the cousin of one viral disease was once a major pandemic. The deaths of hundreds of millions under the name Smallpox or Variola,” he said.
