Experts Explain Possible Causes of Large-Scale Air Raids and Missile Threats in Ukraine

Experts explained the possible reasons for the new large-scale air raid.

On social networks, Ukrainians are discussing large-scale air raids related to the enemy’s use of ballistic missiles. Previously, an air alert throughout Ukraine was announced only in the event of a flight of Russian MiG-31Ks carrying Kinzhal missiles.

And last week, alarm throughout Ukraine was twice associated with the threat of the use of ballistic weapons, which surprised and alarmed many.

The TSN.ua website found out why a new large-scale alarm was being declared and what it was connected with.

Experts note that a large-scale alarm is being declared due to the threat of ballistic missiles, namely North Korean ones, which have a long flight range. The enemy also uses Zircon ballistic missiles, which have a long flight range and a powerful warhead.

What do they say in the Air Force?

The Air Force says it will warn of a ballistics threat should it occur. And once again they remind us of the need to go to shelter after announcing the alarm.

“We see air targets flying along a ballistic trajectory and we warn about such a threat. And other experts are already figuring out what it was. At this time, we cannot comment on the range of these missiles or information about their inaccuracy. This is a matter for the experts. We shoot down air targets that fly based on ballistics or aerodynamics. We do what we did before, and the experts determine what kind of rocket it was.”— told the TSN.ua website Yuri IgnatSpeaker of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

There may also be cruise missiles

According to a military expert Oleg Zhdanov, until this time, a large-scale air raid warning was announced only when the missiles’ range covered the entire territory of Ukraine. That is, every time a MiG-31K with a Kinzhal missile takes off.

Oleg Zhdanov adds that Russian ballistics not fired from airplanes do not cover the entire territory of Ukraine, and Korean ones fly only 190 kilometers further than the Russian one. For example, the maximum range of the Iskander-M missile is 500 kmand the North Korean KN-23 has 690 km.

“Perhaps a large-scale alarm throughout Ukraine started announcing ahead of time. After all, such a decision is made by the Air Force headquarters depending on the situation. We don’t know the whole real situation. There may be this option: the Iskander-M complex capable of using cruise missiles to launchand they have a flight range 1.5 thousand kilometers. Therefore, perhaps, when they declare a large-scale alarm due to ballistics, they also provide for the option with Iskander-M. We cannot say with confidence which missile will come off the launcher – winged or ballistic“, military expert Oleg Zhdanov tells the TSN.ua website.

The enemy is improving its ballistics

Military expert Igor Romanenko notes that the Kinzhal is a ballistic missile, a modernized version of the Iskander-M, adapted for use from an aircraft in order to increase the speed of such a missile, and this poses a threat to the entire territory of Ukraine.

Actually, that’s why the alarm is sounded throughout the country when an enemy plane with a Kinzhal is detected taking off.

As for the North Korean missiles that the enemy uses, according to Igor Romanenko, their range capabilities are still being determined. It is known that the range of the North Korean ballistic missile KN-23 reaches 760 kilometersand the power of the warhead is about a ton or more.

“Such a rocket is a real threat to Kyiv and most border cities, to which she can fly. Its flight time is minutes, so in the event of such a threat, an air raid alert is announced throughout Ukraine. It is important to understand that the enemy has many new missiles. And it is the North Korean ones that are especially dangerous; they have been little studied. Russians have the opportunity to improve and modernize themand therefore the flight range may be greater than what is noted in the open technical characteristics,” Igor Romanenko, military expert, retired lieutenant general, deputy chief of the General Staff (2006-2010), tells the TSN.ua website.

Combine air attacks

The military expert emphasizes that in the event of a large-scale air raid warning due to ballistics, you need to go to cover, because there is little time for this. You should also take into account the cunning of the enemy, who can combine the use of missiles of different types.

“The enemy is combining strikes. There is no such thing as the Russians striking exclusively Korean missiles or winged. The most effective composition of an air strike is when it is formed from different types of missiles, plus Shaheeds. This is what they do, and in a comprehensive manner. From the enemy’s point of view, such use is effective – more of their missiles break through our air defense and reach their targets,” concludes Igor Romanenko.

Previously, the TSN.ua website talked about a “space” funnel with a lake near Kiev: what was flying towards the capital – a North Korean rocket or a Zircon.
