Experts noted that the case of the smartphone was very durable, despite the folding design and many moving parts. And the flexible display remains the most fragile place, because it is always located outside and is not protected from blows in any way. But the display can be replaced without any problems in the service center.

Also in the smartphone, many components have been made modular, so they are easy to replace. Batteries are also easily removed from the case, only one of them holds tightly to the glue. In general, iFixit experts gave the Mate XS a low maintainability rating of 2 points out of 10 possible.

For comparison, the new “clamshell” Samsung Galaxy Z Flip received a maintainability rating of 3 points, and Motorola Razr 2020 – only one point. At the same time, for example, a regular Galaxy S20 Ultra smartphone also received a low rating of 3 points, it has a monolithic body.
