Today, Saturday, German child mental health experts expressed growing concern about the escalation of tension over the emerging coronavirus pandemic among the country’s 13.7 million children and adolescents, as a result of continued school closures and social restrictions. What highlights a future mental health crisis.
Researchers from the University of the Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf revealed that a poll conducted by the university found that one in 3 children suffers from anxiety syndrome, depression, or stomach pain due to the Corona pandemic, according to what was reported by the British newspaper (The Guardian), on its website.
The researchers added that children from families of illegal immigrants or poor families are the most affected by this crisis, explaining that there are currently no long-term studies, but there is evidence of a high incidence of psychotherapy in hospitals due to the current crises.
It is noteworthy that primary school students from grades one through three returned to schools this week, to receive reduced lessons in classes with fewer students, while the German government plans to ease more restrictions in the coming weeks.
