Prague The nomination of the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES) to the government, although he signed the petition of the Million Moments Association demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES), the Prime Minister considers proof that expertise is more important to him than the political opinion of ministers.
Babiš said this on Sunday in a video published on social networks. He said he did not consider the political views of any of the YES-nominated ministers to be important political views.
Blatný confirmed that he had signed a petition to Million Moments for Democracy against Babiš |
Blatný originally claimed that he did not know about the signing of the petition, but on Friday he confirmed that he had signed it. “We, the undersigned, find it unacceptable that 71 years after the communist coup and 30 years after the Velvet Revolution, the prime minister of our country is a prosecuted man, led as a StB agent,” the petition said. The minister said that he had now entered Babiš’s government because it was more important for him to be able to help fight the coronavirus epidemic.
“This is clear evidence that I propose ministers not according to their political views, but according to expertise. Mr. Blatný was recommended to me as an expert and I never talked to him about his political views and I don’t even consider it important, “said Babiš. He has the same attitude to other ministers for YES, he added.
The Prime Minister stated that he had the confidence to select YES for the ministers in the government and that he also took responsibility for the selection. “It proves that we are not a traditional party, that our ministers are not decided by regional organizations or various party secretariats,” he said. According to him, YES has a “de facto supply of 8.5 million people” and any expert for the movement can work.
Blatný will not prevent Plag from closing special schools. It will be clear about their operation after the cabinet meeting |
Babiš introduced Blatný to office on Thursday. He replaced Roman Prymula (YES) as head of the Ministry of Health, who had to leave the ministry’s leadership after photos were published last week leaving the restaurant, which was supposed to be closed, at night and got into a car without a veil.
Grandma does not understand why Hamáček wants a commission of inquiry
Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) does not understand why Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Jan Hamáček (CSSD) is talking about the establishment of a parliamentary commission of inquiry to investigate errors before the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic. On Sunday, Babiš told reporters during a visit to the warehouse of the State Material Reserves Administration (SSHR) in Sedlčany that the commission would be politically abused. According to him, now is not the time to look for the culprit. Hamáček said on Saturday that the commission should be established after the second wave subsides.
“I am surprised that this is proposed by Mr. Hamáček, who was on all health risk councils for all government decisions. If the opposition suggested it, I understand that, “said Babiš. Nor does he expect the commission to reach any conclusions. “Parliamentary commissions have never investigated anything, it is pure politics and it will just be politically abused,” he said.
“If someone is to investigate, it will be investigated by the authorities that are competent,” the prime minister said. Now, according to him, this is not the time to find out who neglected something. “At the moment, we should talk more about overcoming the pandemic together than looking for some culprits,” he said.
In an interview with Seznam Zprávy on Saturday, Hamáček said that after the second wave of the pandemic subsided, he would welcome the creation of a commission to investigate where the Czechia had made mistakes in its preparations for the autumn. He noted that Prime Minister Babiš had been drastically involved in deciding on protective measures against the spread of coronavirus for some time.
On Sunday, the deputy prime minister told Prima on Partie that the creation of the commission is a standard democratic mechanism by which the state should respond to the crisis. According to him, it is necessary to find out what mechanisms worked and which did not work, in order to avoid repeating mistakes in the future.
