Expert Warns of Increased Dengue Cases Due to Transition Season

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) are increasing. According to the General Chair of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Adib Khumaidi, this is influenced by the transition season.

“So now we are in one climate, this transitional climate then has consequences with the level of humidity, the relative humidity is also high. “So this is the season that dengue (vectors) themselves really want,” said Adib after the ethics seminar Dilemmas of Medical Therapy with a Service-Based Research Approach in Jakarta, Saturday (2/3/2024).

He added that dengue is very happy with the current season. Thus, the potential for an increase in dengue cases is high.

“So the basis for the development of the disease cannot be separated from the existing climate and weather. “So, until around June, there is potential for an increase in dengue cases.”

Considering this potential, Adib reminded the public to be aware of the potential for dengue fever. Building this awareness is not always from the hospital preparation side but also from each individual.

“The most important thing is the community itself. What precautions should the community take? “If we are based on personal matters first, then of course individuals or society must personally take care of their health.”

Adib appealed to people to increase their immune system, get enough rest, eat nutritious food, eat fruit and get enough exercise.
