On Tuesday, March 5, there will be another meeting of the Alzheimer Café in De Klink in Koudum. The theme this evening is ‘Driving and dementia’. Our guest is Prof. Dr. Wiebo Brouwer, who works at the expertise center for Older Traffic Participants in Groningen.
Wiebo Brouwer is an expert in the field of testing and training the fitness to drive in elderly people with memory and visual disorders and people with brain disorders. He will talk about his research into and experiences with driving for people with dementia.
Driving gives many people freedom and independence. But when is it still safe? Can one still drive a car with a diagnosis of dementia? How does a driving test work? And how do you, as relatives, deal with the (returned) driver’s license of the person with dementia?
