“Expert Analysis on Ukraine’s War Against Russia and Allies’ Donation Responsibilities”

“I think that it will not go that far, because it is, after all, a state-level responsibility, and of course, any human donation will only strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities. But – will it turn out that it will be like an obligation, well, it is unlikely, I would not like to think so,” commented NBS major, National Guard staff officer Jānis Slaidiņš in the TV24 program “Actuals about military operations in Ukraine”, in response to the LA.LV portal’s question about whether it is possible to introduce some kind of “legal framework”, that is, by law, oblige the allies of the Western countries to donate more to Ukrainians and in this way motivate or even force the countries of the civilized world to support Ukraine in the war against Russia, which has been going on for the last 18 months.

Slaidins also agrees with what British Foreign Minister James Cleverley said in the media on Wednesday, May 10, that “the expected Ukrainian offensive against Russia may not be decisive.” Clavery also simultaneously urged continued support for Kyiv.

“Yes, this may not be decisive [ofensīva – red.], here I would perhaps like to focus on what the battlefield is: there is one army opposite, and there is another army. The question is – how will it all go, and what will be the gains and losses? The fact that we will not see an invasion in Crimea – we have already talked about it here in the program. The main thing for Ukraine is to get fire control over this peninsula and do everything possible to get the Russians to move away on their own!” this was emphasized by NBS major Slaidiņš in the TV24 program “Actuals about military activity in Ukraine”.

Also, the expert reminded what was clearly defined by the Ukrainians themselves, namely that “they will do everything to return to the borders of 1991”. However, Slaidiņš added that wars are won by soldiers and, of course, “we have to see what the battlefield will show”.
