Veteran Petr Jelínek is clear that he will extend his rich career in Pilsen. In the west of Bohemia, he signed up for two more seasons, the club informed about it through its communication channels.

“Pilsen was one of the first teams I negotiated with. For a long time, excellent work has been done in the organization and quality hockey has been played. It’s a new challenge for me,” reports the 38-year-old center.

” href=” has continuously defended the colors of Liberec since 2014: under Ještěd, he held the role of captain for several years, contributing to the historic title and other successes of local hockey.

However, he no longer fit into the other plans of the White Tigers. After the return of the former national team coach Filip Pešán, North Bohemia faces a rebuilding, so the experienced striker did not receive a new contract offer.

Later, there were rumors about the Indians’ interest, now the mutual agreement is official. Jelínek will pass on his years of knowledge to the young people of Pilsen.

“I cared a lot about Petr Jelínek.”

“I cared a lot about Petr Jelínek,” says general manager Martin Straka. “He is a player for both breakdowns and power-ups, he plays it excellently in front of the goal, he knows how to play to the body and he is one of the best throw-in players ever.”

Together with another offensive reinforcement, Jakub Lvo, he should be included in the main pillars of the West Bohemian party. The native of Prague had previously worked for Slavia for a long time: he had already made a total of 922 starts in the extra league.

“Petr is great for the cabin. He has experienced things in him that we want young guys to look away from him. He is a great guy with an excellent character. An extremely important signing for us,” Straka rejoices.

“Dad, who played great years here, also praised me for my choice.”

In the city of beer, among other things, he will continue the family legacy – between 1995 and 1998, his father also wore the Pilsen jersey. “Dad, who played great years here, also praised me for my choice,” says Jelínek for the club’s website.

For the Indians, this is the seventh newcomer before the upcoming season: with the start of the transfer period, they announced the arrivals of goalkeeper Samuel Hlavaj, defenders Aleksi Laaks, Daniel Malák or Tomáš Dujsík, and forwards Ondřej Matýs and Filip Jansa.
