Feel like a character in a sci-fi movie.
The first person to perform a spacewalk was Soviet cosmonaut Alexei Leonov. A significant event in the development of the expanses of the universe occurred on March 18, 1965. Leonov spent 12 minutes outside the spacecraft, which was quite a feat. At that moment, there were no rescue systems that the astronaut could count on – he had to rely only on his own strength and on the equipment that was in space with him. Initially, it was assumed that an animal in a special spacesuit would go into outer space. However, this idea had to be abandoned. Firstly, because a lot of time had to be spent developing complex equipment, and secondly, because flying an animal into space would not provide any new information. Our smaller brothers simply could not tell anything about their experience of being in outer space, and unforeseen situations could not be discounted – it is impossible to explain to an animal what exactly awaits it and how to behave in an extreme situation. Could you go to outer space and return to Earth alive and unharmed? Test yourself with our quiz.
