Experience the Rhythmic Beats and Melodic Tunes of Basque Culture at Alamzic’s Night of Music and Dance

As part of the week “Walk on the Basque side”, a Basque evening is organized this Friday, March 31 by the Cartel Bigourdan and the Parvis. Meet at 5 p.m. at the Alamzic.

While the Cartel Bigourdan already enjoys a good reputation in the Haut Adour thanks to its musical programming and its Big Bag Festival, this partnership (the very first!) with the Parvis “is proof of great confidence and recognition of our work by the Tarbes National Scene”, rejoices Urbain Soisson, founding member of the Bagnéraise association.

“We’ve been trying to work with the Parvis for a while, but we had to find the right project. The new management has a real desire for cultural networking with the actors of the territory and we are delighted, especially since the current has gone well. On this Basque evening, we worked in close collaboration with the Parvis and it will be a great pleasure to welcome groups like Bilaka, which is a reference in the Basque trad ball, as well as Orbel and Lumi, two emerging groups from the electro scene. With this mix of genres, this evening fits perfectly with our identity. Mixing current music and traditional music is important to us”, he underlines.

And for those who want to indulge in a few dance steps, the association also has something to satisfy the public. “As part of our cultural action, we also offer a free dance workshop from 5 p.m., led by the Bilaka collective. We are very lucky to have them at home. As part of their national tour, they will present a show tonight (yesterday) at the Parvis and they have agreed to lead this workshop but also the trad ball which will follow from 8:30 p.m.”, invites Urbain Soisson.

And if Basque culture will be in the spotlight this Friday evening, it will share the stage with Occitan culture thanks to “the musical aperitif served with Basque sauce on the forecourt of Alamzic but animated by the bigourdan group Eths Cebars, member of the collective “Cantat ses gaussas” which works for the transmission of the Occitan language”, he explains.
