Experience the Newly Restored Pontifical Collector’s Building: An Exclusive Invitation for Journalists

The Pontifical Collector’s Building has recently completed restoration work. For this reason, the Holy See Property Administration invites interested journalists to visit the newly restored building.

(Vatican News) This will be a rare opportunity to appreciate the wonders of the little-known Pontifical Clerical Palace. Recently, the Holy See Property Administration (APSA) invited interested journalists to visit the renovated Palazzo della Cancelleria on Tuesday, September 12 at 11:30.

Before the visit that day, visiting journalists will gather in the Sala Vasari Hall (Sala Vasari) to attend an introductory meeting held by the Holy See Property Administration. Archbishop Nunzio Galantino, Chairman of the Holy See Property Management Authority, presided over the meeting, and Andrea Tornielli, Editorial Director of the Dicastery for Communications, delivered a speech. The briefing was attended by Mauro Tomassini, the engineer responsible for the restoration project, and the professor of architectural history at the School of Engineering of the Sapienza University of Rome.

This magnificent palace, located between Campo de’ Fiori and Via Vittorio Emanuele II, was built after Raffaele Riario, nephew of Sisto IV. Built at the will of the Cardinal, its foundations date back to the time of Pope Damaso. The main facade of the building is made of limestone called travertine. The building was once the seat of the Pontifical Clerks’ Chamber, and is now the seat of the Holy Pardon, the Supreme Court of the Holy Seal and the Holy Wheel Court of Rome.
