Joseph Haydn is an Austrian composer of the 18th century, who is often called the “father” of the symphony – the number of symphonies he composed is measured in three digits. However, it is not about numbers, but about the solid foundations from which the grandest expression of the symphony orchestra grows over the course of several centuries, which is later nurtured and developed by other orchestras as well. His creative activity also inspired his younger colleagues – classicists – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven, as well as a number of composers of the romantic era.
LNSO will perform Haydn’s music under the leadership of conductor Jānis Stafeckas. He started close cooperation with LNSO in 2022/2023. in the season of the year. Stafeckis cooperated with Sinfonietta Riga, Latvijas Radio Choir, Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, and in 2012 he founded and still leads the Rēzekne Chamber Orchestra. The solo part in the Concert for Trumpet and Orchestra in Eb minor will be performed by the Danish trumpeter Jens Emils Holm, who has been living in Latvia for many years and currently performs the duties of concertmaster in the LNSO, as well as playing in a chamber orchestra.
