Florist Rose Lee turns the exhibition into an art garden
Speaking of florist Rose Lee, you may not be too familiar with it, but when it comes to the founder of the local fashion and handicraft brand ibility, everyone who loves handicrafts will definitely “Oh!” Come out! Inspired by her mother who loves handicrafts such as painting and embroidery since she was a child, Rose also fell in love with handmade.say back this time for[email protected]How to make flower arrangements for exhibitions[email protected]Evenly split but not overwhelming, Rose chose the theme of “Secret Garden”, which is indeed appropriate. Secret gardens are often low-key, but attractive. Taking a closer look at the colorful flower arrangements, Rose told me that more than 20,000 houses of more than a hundred different flowers were selected for the creation. In order to be able to exhibit for a long time, in addition to using artificial flowers and preserved flowers, they also mixed flowers that can be placed for a long time and gradually become dried flowers. Flower materials add variety to the exhibition site. Among them, the flowers hanging from the ceiling are hung one by one by hand, which is definitely a work of ingenuity.
When talking about May, how can you not think of “France”? Hong Kong’s “Le French May Arts Festival” 2023 (hereinafter referred to as “Le French May”) has entered its 30th year. This year’s theme is “Art Linkage”. How to link the pulse of art between Hong Kong and France? We invited Karena Lin, who has been the ambassador of “Le French May” for the 10th year, to do an exclusive interview. We asked her to explain the theme of the French May Art Festival, and also talked about Karena’s “His Temple” in “Le French May” 2023 In the program, I had my first taste of an all-British voice acting, as well as the review and feelings of being an ambassador for ten years.
As the ambassador of “Le French May”, Lin Jiaxin went to France for in-depth art exchanges earlier
Carrie Lam: Art can be gradually accumulated in daily life, it is not something that is beyond our reach!
1. How do you interpret the theme of “PULSARTE” in Hong Kong’s “Le French May” 2023?
Carrie Lam: Pulse is your pulse, pulse gives you life, just like art is around us early in the morning, it can be gradually accumulated from daily life, it is not something we cannot reach, for example, when I pass by Stanley or Shek O bus station, Sometimes I see all kinds of chairs abandoned by the neighbors at the station head, each of which is different, forming a unique scenery; or I see the roots of the banyan tree by the roadside, breaking through the concrete wall, etc., even small things , I will feel so beautiful, this is the beauty that we can observe in our daily life!
Carrie Lam: The common point of works of art or literature is that they all reflect the social conditions at that time.
2. After the in-depth art exchange in France earlier, did it bring you any ideas?
Carrie Lam: Hong Kong has Hong Kong’s artistic aesthetics and expression methods, and France also has its own different characteristics. Different art media, artists or authors, their works of art or literature have something in common, all reflecting the social conditions at that time, or reflecting the author The things he has experienced in his life record the things he cares about, wants to subvert, is angry or feels during his creative period. With subversive artistic creation methods, he keeps exploring and trying to break through.

Carrie Lam: Sometimes we all need to break out of our familiar safe zone.
3. You will participate in the performance of “His Temple” in “French May” this year. How did you join in the first place?
Carrie Lam: Last year, I met Jiang Yitian (Olivier) because of the joint creation of the installation art exhibition “Take Care You” in the Oil Street community. Later, during the “New Vision Art Festival” last November, Olivier talked about “French May” invited him to prepare the project, and I shared with him that I had read Guy. After reading Maupassant’s French short story “Clair de Lune (Moonlight)”, he liked it very much, so I joined the “His Temple” team logically.
4. What role do you play in “His Temple”?
Carrie Lam: Dance artists Wang Ronglu and Tam Zhizhuo are excellent dancers in Hong Kong. They are responsible for performing on stage, and I mainly perform the English narration. This experience is very different from the past, because the narration I played in “His Temple” does not have a specific role setting. I am both me, everyone, and the incarnation of God, the subconscious, him, her, or a memory. The voice acting process will continue to wander and evolve, and the narration in the performance can also find its own story, so this creation is very challenging!
5. Continuing from the above question, what is the most difficult part in the creative process?
Carrie Lam: In the field of film that I have been active for a long time, I usually play fixed characters with background stories. In addition, this time I retreated behind the scenes and could not rely on appearance or body language. I’m curious as to what the effect would be like. I don’t know how to do voice acting yet, but I think it’s the most fun when I don’t know how to do it! Sometimes we all need to break out of our familiar safe zone.
6. After serving as the ambassador of “Le French May” for ten years, what impresses you most?
Carrie Lam: After finishing the art festival every year, everyone will review the achievements and reactions of the past year together. At the same time, they will conceive the vision and share ideas for the next year and the next year, and discuss what else “French May” can bring to Hong Kong. In the process, I will gradually see that the annual “French May” art festival becomes more real. I think the public may not see this process every year, but it makes me very moved. In addition, when some artists that I really hope to invite to Hong Kong, such as Keren Ann, a singer-songwriter active in France, finally came to Hong Kong this year, witnessed the idea of brainstorm, and brought it to Hong Kong by fate, which also made me feel very interesting.

Carrie Lam: I feel that I have been able to get in touch with art since I was a child, which is a very happy thing.
7. Ten years of experience as an ambassador of the French May Art Festival, what are the advantages of French art development, which are worth learning from in Hong Kong?
In Hong Kong, everyone really needs to get in touch with all kinds of different arts, especially the younger you are, the more you need to get in touch. One thing I really appreciate about France is that in the process of children’s growth and school education, a lot of resources are invested in liberal arts education, such as painting, dancing, movies, music, art, literature, etc. French people go to museums and art galleries with their families on Saturdays and Sundays. There are also many guided tours for children in the museums. Some art galleries even place paintings at the height of children’s vision.
You will feel that the French have been cultivating art cognition since childhood, so that children can experience and experience beauty from an early age, not just knowing how to be beautiful, but deep down in their hearts, experiencing beauty through art. This kind of beauty is silent and speechless. It is so difficult to distinguish, and you have to think logically, but it can touch your heart. I think it is a very happy thing to be able to get in touch with art since childhood.
