Max’s love of cooking, nudity and fellowship inspired her to host her first nude group meals in 2020.
Now it organizes four sister events in NY
and Los Angeles, including The Füde Dinner Experience, The Füde Breathwork Experience
The Füde Clay Experience y The Füde Photo Experience.
The name pays homage to Max’s German-Jewish heritage and is pronounced as “food.”
A ticket to an event costs between $44 and $88.
“My mission is to connect us with our purest and most authentic being.”
“It’s definitely worth it,” said Niko Jane, who took part in Friday’s event, his third Füde.
“It’s getting out of your comfort zone in such a safe way, even though it doesn’t feel like you’re walking through the door,” Jane said. “When you get here, you’re…everyone is a little shy and a little slow. But I mean, the more you’re here, the more people just hang out, and it turns out we’re naked. It’s nice to be in a space that isn’t sexual. Naked”.
After the breathing exercises under the guidance of breathing facilitator Lihi Benisty, the participants enjoyed a vegan dinner which consisted of herb salad, basmati rice and chocolate covered strawberries. The plan was to include a spinach sweet potato curry as well, but a portable stove burned it.
However, no one seemed to care.
Many, like Mehow Podstawski, focused instead on the breakthroughs that came from breathwork.
“Out of the blue, I realized that I was overcoming a fear that I didn’t know I had, and I started crying,” Podstawski said. “And all of a sudden, it was like this fear that you have is so irrational that it doesn’t matter, and you’re powerful and strong enough to go through this and take the next opportunity that comes your way” because you are, you have the strength, and the only reason you say ‘no’ is because you are afraid. And that was really nice.”

Everyone who participated in Friday’s event first had to apply on the event’s website and go through a screening process “to ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees,” according to organizers.
“A lot of times people are nervous,” Max said. “People come for the first time to experience the nakedness in a group, so it is important that we have different facilitators to help people feel more comfortable.”
On Friday, there was a person present who was looking for signs of discomfort and stepped in when he saw something that needed to be corrected.
Ritu Saheb decided to participate in the event because she wanted to regain her body confidence during menopause.
“Obviously, it is necessary, and that is why we have so many women here,” Saheb said. “There is so much pressure out there, on the street, the way you dress, the way you look. But there is no pressure in this room. So, I think it’s a very positive experience. And I hope to see this movement somehow grow more.”
