Tchyminigagua Foundation
This organization was born in 1985 from a popular and festive theatrical language of joy, rhythm, strength, energy, memory, commitment and politics. Currently the group is internationally recognized for its acrobatic, circus and musical stage techniques, as well as for the stilts on skates, an invention patented worldwide.
Creators of more than 50 plays, theatrical shows and international stage co-productions, they have more than a dozen international tours during which they have participated in festivals, carnivals, fairs, parties and theatrical, artistic and cultural programs in Europe, Africa, Asia and America.
Tchyminigagua has traveled the world with its integral artists UA, UA, UA, a guarantee of quality and Colombian theatrical identity, generating a 37-year history of theater and popular culture of social transformation and peace.
This is how the “Mhuysqua Trilogy: Bachué, Bochica and Tchyminigagua” is part of one of the three shows that the Foundation has been developing in homage to the Muisca culture. This work rescues the myth of these deities, the creation of the universe and the arrival of the conquistadors, crudely and truthfully represents the destruction of a people because of the impossible search for El Dorado and questions what it is to be descendants of the great god of origin and the creation.
The show interweaves the acrobatic and festive popular theater of Tchyminigagua with a wonderful plastic proposal: a six-meter figure, conventional and roller stilts, colorful makeup, live music and twenty actors and actresses who represent this critical, raw and powerful celebration of our ancestral territorial memory.
His achievements include co-directions of around 20 international co-productions with companies such as Xarxa Teatre, Comediants, Generick Vapeur and Cia Carles Castillo. Similarly, the Foundation has a permanent school of theater, poetry, music, dance, acrobatics, plastic arts and stilts; in fact, the skating stilt technique was invented at the Foundation, where more than three thousand people have been trained.
Among their artistic productions, Tchyminigagua has led to the scene “Juglaradas de la muerte”, with which they debuted as a group; “Circus of Melquiades: magical realism”, “Singing and dancing to the river”, “I fight in Glory, Tururu Tutú”, “Macondo. The town’s circus” and “Enchanted Dreams”.
