The train will run on the day when the big railway exhibition RENDEZ will be held in Bratislava.
The company ReViRail will send an unusual train on Saturday, September 9, on the occasion of the celebration of the 175th anniversary of the start of railway transport in Slovakia. In cooperation with the Railway Museum of the Slovak Republic and ČD Nostalgie, the Retro Slovak Strela will travel from Prague to Bratislava.
Passengers who decide to travel on this train will find themselves in the atmosphere of the eighties. The first dual-system locomotive of the Czechoslovak state railways, ES 499.0, will be at the head of the historic set, and there will also be train staff in period uniforms. The destination of the journey is Bratislava’s Východní nádraží, also known as RENDEZ, where there will be celebrations connected with a parade of historic locomotives not only from Slovakia.
The historic set consisting of “leatherettes” will be complemented by the Nostalgické Vlaky CZ dining car, which will offer a rich selection of food and drinks. Traditionally, beer from craft breweries will be available as well as other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Tickets with seats can be purchased online on the website nostalgickevlaky.cz,
The special anniversary train will leave Prague Central Station at 5:45 a.m. and will stop in Prague Libni, Prague Běchovice, Kolín, Čáslav, Havlíčková Brod, Tišnov, Brno and Břeclav. The expected arrival of the train to Bratislava (Rendez) is around 12:00. Departure back is planned at approximately 18:00 and arrival in Prague at approximately 23:00 with stops at the same stations. The exact train schedule will be published 2-3 weeks in advance.
