“An iconic stadium that we’re used to seeing on television, it’s a dream”
All the athletes recognized that this stadium had nothing to do with the venues usually frequented by the Beach Pro Tour.
“You can feel the atmosphere is special as soon as you arrive here,” says the Italian Adrian Carambula. “It’s really special to play at Roland-Garros, we try to make the most of it,” confirms the Chilean Esteban Grimalt. “It’s an iconic stadium that we’re used to seeing on television, it’s a dream,” he even proclaims. The history of this enclosure also awakens the memories of French players. “When we’re in the locker room, it’s crazy,” admits Lézana Placette. This is particularly the case of Elsa who gave voice during the Tricolores matches. “We usually see them on our computer, they can’t hear us screaming. It’s great there, we can try to push them. We already came last year, but now it’s even more impressive to see them playing on the Roland-Garros center with the roof open. »
The stands at the Philippe-Chatrier court are less crowded than at Roland-Garros, but still remain noisy. The number of touches in attack being limited to three, each French offensive is accompanied by the distinct encouragement of the Parisian public who chant “Blue – White – Red”.
This atmosphere, which contrasts with the usual calm of the place at each point, could even awaken the portraits of the former Roland-Garros champions present in certain corridors which lead to the stands.
Spectators take photos of themselves with it, when they are not busy with other activities…
