Experience the Art and Music at the Sand Sculpture Festival in Jelgava 2023

The Sand Sculpture Festival in Jelgava 2023 brings together those interested in enjoying art and music!

This Saturday, June 10, the traditional Sand Sculpture Festival takes place in Jelgava. Sand sculpture park will be open until 23:00 today. Visitors to the park can not only look at the masterpieces of sculptors, but also enjoy an entertainment program for the whole family, the portal LA.LV learned from the Public Relations Department of Jelgava municipality.

The most ambitious work of art in the Sand Sculpture Park is usually the demo sculpture, and this year it was also created by Latvian sculptors Kārlis and Maija Īles on the Post Island. They were inspired by the composition “Yellow Submarine” performed by “The Beatles”. When asked about the choice of the song, the sculptors answer briefly: “It is the most popular song of all time.” The park’s central sculpture is 12 meters wide, and about 300 tons of sand were used in its construction.

Exciting activities awaited the youngest visitors throughout the day. But in the evening, three different Latvian groups and musicians will take care of the festive atmosphere – at 18:00 the Latvian rock group “De Speakable” played, from 19:30 the musician Lauris Reiniks sings and at 21:00 the group “Credo” will take the stage!

Tickets to the International Sand Sculpture Festival can be purchased at “Biļešu paradīze” ticket offices and online. Children up to the age of 7 are admitted free of charge, Jelgava municipality informed. The international sand sculpture festival in Jelgava is organized by Jelgava state city and institution “Kultūra” in cooperation with its great friend JSC “Ramirent Baltic”.
