Director Kārlis Anitens and this year’s “Night of Gamblers” nominee, lighting artist Oskars Pauliņš, are working on the creation of the light show of Andrej Pumpura’s epic “Lāčplēsis” in Liktendarz, which will be the most ambitious light show in Latvia so far.
The construction of the light show “Lāčplēsis” has already started, but the multimedia show itself will take place in Liktendarz during the national holidays from November 10 to 19. “Everyone is invited to an ambitious performance in which, in the form of a walk, in cooperation with nature, light, sound, music, video, scenography and acting, you will be able to experience Andrejs Pumpura’s mighty epic in 17 episodes,” inform the organizers.
The light performance is a specific form of theater art, which involves observing the staged work by going for a walk or along the route of the show, which is two kilometers long, thus reaching the epicenter of the events and becoming a participant of the show. Duration of the show, including moving from episode to episode – one hour 24 minutes.
The creative core of the performance is director Kārlis Anitens and lighting artist Oskars Pauliņš, who together have already realized several multimedia shows, including the most impressive light show in Latvia in 2020 “The Tale of the Knight of Light”. Young musicians Jānis Aizupietis and Signe Aizupiete will create the original music and songs created using a special technique for the performance, the actors Inga Misāne-Grasberga and Gundars Grasbergs will voice “Lāčplēsi”, while the video episodes will be made by the artist Toms Zeļgis.
