Expensive repairs mean that more Norwegians would rather buy new

Only every fourth Norwegian has gone to a repairman in the last three years, according to a survey conducted by InFact for the organization Restarters Norway and the recycling player Geminor.

As many as 29 per cent of the respondents who have not delivered products for repair state that this is because “it is more expensive than buying a new one”. At the same time, 51 per cent state that they will to a greater extent choose repair of products if it is cheaper than buying a new one, says general manager Kaja Juul Skarbø in Restarters Norway.

10.5 percent say that reuse must be more socially accepted for them to reuse more themselves. The older the respondents are, the more important this question is.

Every fourth respondent states that better availability of repairers will be the most important tool for increasing the life of products.

– The survey also tells us that there is great variation in the offer of repairmen depending on where in Norway you live, says Skarbø.
