The decision also raises questions, because not every house is designed for a heat pump. ‘I also have a house from the 1930s, so there’s no room for a heat pump,’ explains Mulder. ‘That is why there is also an exception for houses where it is really not possible. But for most houses it is possible in combination with a boiler, a central heating boiler. That is a hybrid heat pump, then you have the heat pump for the spring and autumn. If it is really cold then you have the boiler, then you still have some gas.’ According to Mulder, this is also possible in older houses that are less well insulated.
