When asked whether the possible new government is expected to be composed only of the parties attending the talks – “Jaunās vietības” (JV), ZZS and “Progresīvie” – or if it would also include the “United List” (AS) and the National Union (NA), Valainis stated, that the party negotiations so far have brought a positive result – the political rivals represented in the government have moved, “started to do something and work”.
Therefore, it would be strange if they did not want to continue what is well started, noted the leader of the ZZS faction, pointing to AS and NA.
The actions of the current government for six, nine months should be evaluated by putting the word “worked” in quotation marks, also one minister was invisible, so it would be a good thing if ZZS entered the government, because then all the ministers would be forced to work more actively, Valainis noted. The politician stated that it would be difficult to call the government’s work so far productive and successful.
One of the leaders of ZZS noted that the main thing is for a possible new government to have more than 50 votes. As a significant difference from the previous or current government’s “movement”, Valainis points to the ongoing ongoing negotiations on issues important to the country, so that the possible new Cabinet of Ministers acquires a new, development-oriented vector or direction.
The possible new government should have the commitment not to continue postponing the solution of the currently usual problems, but to dispassionately stick to their solution, so that they can start thinking about “holding the level achieved by Estonia or Lithuania”, emphasized the leader of the ZZS faction.
As reported, Valainis previously stated that ZZS is ready to participate in such a coalition that will abandon stagnation in education, health, internal affairs, traffic, cadastral values of real estate and other areas.
It has already been announced that, following the initiative of Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (JV), shortly after the presidential elections, party negotiations on various topics important to the state began. The prime minister aims to build a broader coalition.
JV, ZZS and “Progresīvie” participate in the negotiations. On the other hand, AS and NA are boycotting these meetings, because they do not support the expansion of the current coalition – JV, AS and NA.
