Expect very strong gusts for parts of Finnmark

An orange danger warning has been sent out for the area, and it was updated on Sunday.

The wind gusts can locally reach over 40 meters per second, says Meteorological Institute.

– An intense storm center is being developed just west of the coast of northern Norway during Sunday. There have been a lot of uncertainties in the forecasts until today, but the forecasts now seem to agree on a very strong westerly wind towards the coast of Finnmark on Sunday evening and early night until Monday, it is said.

At the same time, a yellow danger warning has been issued for strong winds in North Troms.

The meteorologist on duty at StormGeo, Olav Erikstad, informs TV 2 that there is no danger that there will be major damage to major infrastructure.

– It can probably go with a boathouse at the very end of the coast, but there is no danger that the roof may loosen, says Erikstad.

Erikstad emphasizes that there is a strong wind, and that those who live in the area should attach loose objects.

– Attach loose objects, avoid traffic in exposed places, check directions and the like, says Erikstad.

– It is not an extreme warning, but there is a strong wind in the area.

The Meteorological Institute states that the wind will lie from night to Tuesday.
