Manama: An expatriate youth caught with drugs in Bahrain begged for forgiveness in court. In the apology, it is said that he is the sole support of the family and that other measures should be avoided and he should be deported. A 32-year-old man was arrested for possession of more than 100 grams of hashish for sale. Another 40-year-old expatriate is also facing trial in the same case.
The case is being tried at the Bahrain High Criminal Court. When the case was heard on March 28, both the accused admitted to possessing and using drugs. But they denied the allegation of selling. After this, one of the accused apologized to the court.
‘I am very sorry for what I have done. Apologize before the court. I have very bad living conditions in my country. Since my father died, I am the sole support of the family. He could not even attend his father’s funeral. I take care of five sisters and four brothers. They have no other help but me. Considering my condition, I am requesting to be pardoned and sent back home,” says the pardon application written in the court.
According to the police, both the accused were caught through a sting operation. Undercover agents appointed by the police would approach the accused on the pretense of being in need and ask for drugs and then trap them. In the statement of one of the accused, he was arrested during a police raid from his residence in Salmabad on December 1. Hashish and money for weighing it were recovered from here. Defendants claim that all the goods are for personal use. The court adjourned the case to April 13. Both the accused are in custody.
