Baden-Württemberg wants more wind power – but in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald the big wheel is not being turned. There are hardly any approved projects, the idea for wind turbines in the Rhine valley is new.
More wind power should make the country more climate-friendly – but the big wheel is not currently being turned in the region. Ongoing procedures or projects that have already been approved can be counted on one hand in the districts of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and Emmendingen as well as in Freiburg. Due to changed laws, however, the protagonists are currently pulling rejected plans out of the drawer again. The idea of building wind turbines in the Rhine plain is new – it’s just unclear whether that would be economical.
The company Windkraft Schonach caused a stir in 2021 when they announced that they wanted to examine the B 31 between Breisach and Hausen as locations for wind turbines.
