Today’s new technologies significantly influence the way companies operate, clearly emphasizing their role as one of the main drivers of business. In a sense, market players have to become IT companies, and one of them is “If” Insurance – the company employs more than 1,000 IT professionals, of which 380 operate in the Baltics, providing technical solutions for the entire group. Despite the existing number of IT employees, “If” continues to strengthen its position in the Baltics, this year increasing the team of IT professionals in the Lithuanian office by 50%.
The development of new technologies has served as a real springboard for the insurance industry, promoting the quality of service delivery, product customization and process automation. While it is clear that the role of technology will become increasingly important, one of the most important aspects of ensuring a quality product is the close daily relationship between professionals working on the business side and those on the technology side. “If” IT solutions are provided internally or in-house, thus ensuring a complete understanding of the real situation and customer needs.
As Kjell Rune Tveita, Head of Information Department (CIO) of “If” and Head of Group Services, reveals: “I am sure that the expansion of the Lithuanian IT office will strengthen our technology competences not only in the Baltics, but in the entire “If” group. We believe that close cooperation between business and IT allows us to be present in solving specific problems, thus providing the best possible solutions”.
Strong IT is an important prerequisite for the future of any business. Today, when data is mostly stored, processed digitally, while defining the way companies work, industries need to keep up with the times and be flexible, offering products and services that are as simple and efficient as possible. Insurers are no exception in this context – in order to adapt to the changing needs of customers and ensure their competitiveness, they must be able to provide appropriate technical solutions.
“If” Baltic IT manager Jānis Kesteris adds: “It is a great honor for me to be a part of the circle of Baltic experts who have already made a huge contribution to the industry and will continue to work on the implementation of new solutions in the future as well. We are pleased to take the next step in expanding our IT community in Lithuania. We already have a strong team of data experts from Lithuania, who play an important role in the company, making a significant contribution to business development, so that If becomes a fully data-driven company”.
“If” Baltic IT department already makes up about 35% of the total number of IT specialists of the company group and fully functions in all areas – solution development, testing, infrastructure maintenance and monitoring, creation of security solutions, user experience (UX) and others – providing the best possible solutions Scandinavian and Baltic customers, as well as a technically stable working environment for all “If” employees.
