Internships, application training or presentations by our own trainees at school are just a few examples of the wide range of “school partnerships”. They are a format of the chambers of industry and commerce in which local companies cooperate with secondary schools and thus pupils come into contact with potential training companies at an early stage. At the same time, dual training and job descriptions, which many may still be unaware of, are presented and interest is aroused. Because one thing is clear: it is becoming more and more difficult for companies to find suitable junior staff from year to year. Training can be the key to success here. However, shortly before or after leaving school, many pupils do not yet have a concrete plan for their start in professional life. This is where the economic development of the municipality of Niederkrüchten, together with the IHK Mittlerer Niederrhein, comes in.
Business promoter Frank Grusen and Gabriele Götze, adviser on schools and business at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, together with Yildirim Öner, head of the Janusz-Korczak Realschule in Schwalmtal and Niederkrüchten, had promoted school partnerships at the last business breakfast in the community: “We help our students prepare different formats on the paths that they can take after the end of their school career. School partnerships and the associated practical overview of the specific training opportunities offered by local companies optimally complement our work,” says Öner.
In some municipalities, companies have already concluded such a cooperation agreement with a secondary school – always accompanied by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. In Niederkrüchten, the decision has now been made to expand this offer: “Many IHK companies are interested in school cooperation. The same also applies to the numerous craft businesses and everyone who is not a member of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. We have therefore decided to take over the tasks of the IHK for these companies on the part of the municipal economic development, so that school partnerships with the Realschule are now possible for all companies in the municipality”, Frank Grusen explains the new offer of the economic development.
“Both sides benefit from such a cooperation,” says IHK Managing Director Daniela Perner. “Perspectives are shown to the students and relevant professional worlds are presented – and the companies can get to know their specialists of tomorrow and win them over.”
The new offer is already bearing fruit: After the last business breakfast, the country bakery Stinges, which operates two branches in Niederkrüchten, WILMS Frozen Service, Elektro Jansen Ober (Grabowski Elektrotechnik) and the restaurateur Oliver Wehrmann decided to partner with the secondary school .
