The GGD region Utrecht tries to first start PrEP care, where possible, and then guide people to their own GP or other providers. “We do this to give people on the waiting list access earlier. With the extra budget from the municipality of Utrecht that has been available since the beginning of 2023, we have extra room for 125 people per year for residents of the municipality of Utrecht.” This provides some relief, but does not help those on the waiting list from one of the other 25 municipalities in the province of Utrecht.
