Expanding Opportunities for Expatriates: UAE Government Extends Indigenization to Small Establishments

Dubai: The indigenization announced by the UAE government is expanding to more areas with the aim of increasing opportunities for expatriates in skilled jobs in private institutions. The law, which was implemented only in establishments with 50 employees, has been extended to small establishments.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Indigenization announced the other day that private institutions with 20 to 49 employees have also been included in the indigenization process. The law has been extended to 14 economic sectors including education, construction, real estate and health.

It is proposed that the institutions with 20 to 49 employees should appoint one Swadeshi each in the years 2024 and 2025.
