The US space agency “NASA” announced the launch of a new mission “Dragonfly” to the giant moon of Saturn, Titan, in 2027. This mission will carry an instrument called (DraMS), designed to help scientists discover chemical reactions between the elements on Titan. With the aim of a new understanding of the evolution of life in the universe.
Titan’s complex chemistry, inner oceans, and past liquid water on its surface make it an ideal destination for studying chemical processes and the potential habitability of an extraterrestrial environment.
DraMS will allow scientists back to Earth to study the chemical composition of Titan’s surface from a distance.
Dr. Melissa Trainer of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center said: “At each specific location on Titan’s surface, samples less than one gram in size will be drilled with a special drill, brought into the main body of the lander, and lasers will be used on board or vaporized in the lander.” furnace to be measured by mass spectrometry».
