Exodus, the upcoming space RPG from genre veterans, will have multiple endings depending on the player’s choices.
Exodus was recently announced by Archetype Entertainment, a new team led by James Olen, Chad Robertson and Chris King. Their combined CVs include some of the best RPGs of all time, with Olen notably credited as the lead designer on BioWare classics like the original Baldur’s Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire.
The Exodus announcement trailer definitely had hints of Mass Effect style, and now we know that the RPG has another thing in common with the iconic trilogy: multiple endings.
We put a lot of work into the finale. Time dilation and how it affects your choices is at the core of the game. That’s the whole point of Exodus.
For those who haven’t seen the first Exodus trailer yet, the overall concept borrows the idea from Interstellar, where time passes differently for the main character and for the family or the entire civilization as a whole. This means that the choices will have tangible consequences for decades to come, and we will be able to witness the “future.”
You will be able to make life-changing decisions and see the results of those decisions over the course of years, decades and even centuries.
In addition to manipulating time and space, the team also touched on a third-person combat system, fantasy elements, a setting in the Centaurus star cluster, and the now obligatory romance plots with aliens.
There’s no specific release date yet, but Exodus will release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC when it’s ready.
