Things are getting better again with Chakriwat Vivacharawongse (37), the third son of the controversial Thai king Vajiralongkorn and also known as Prince Chakriwat Mahidol. He’s in the middle of chemotherapy. The side effects have hindered his work for the New York Medical Information Center named after him in recent weeks, but things are moving in the right direction. “I really feel much better,” Chakriwat wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

Vajiralongkorn’s son has an incurable hereditary disease: neurofibramatosis. As a result, benign tumors appear repeatedly along the nervous system, spinal cord and brain. Chakriwat must undergo treatment, such as chemotherapy, almost annually. As a result of the disease, he is now deaf in one ear.

“I was not born with the best or healthiest body,” he noted earlier this year when another round of treatment began. “I have always done my best and will continue to do so. If you are healthy, do not lose this. You are extremely blessed, you do not have to be constantly on your guard or fighting ailments. You can handle life to the fullest. Nothing disappoints me more than seeing someone who is perfectly healthy and wastes the chance of success and happiness. ”
