Exhibition opened at the World Latvian Art Center (PLMC) in Cesis at the end of September “Spring in AustraliaIt features works by 27 artists, including works by Imants Tillers, Jānis Rūdolfs and Lidija Dombrovskis-Larsone. –

PLMC director Kārlis Kanderovskis of Latvian Radio “Kultūras rondo” revealed that he has now moved from Chicago to Cēsis and is trying to exhibit works by Australian and Latvian artists in a similar way as galleries in Australia, New York or Toronto would do.

Describing the collaboration of Latvian artists in Australia, Kanderowski finds the story of Imants Tiller interesting. “Imants Tillers did not live in Sydney, he lived at the other end. It would be about as far as Spain from the west coast of Riga, but yes, they do [kopīgas] exhibitions. It’s interesting how its artists’ community in Australia developed. ”

Eglīte also revealed in the program that Australian Latvians have been asked what they love more about Australia or Latvia. “That’s why Edgar Grest has such a painful video where he says you’re called home, but your home is actually here. The exhibition “Spring in Australia” in Cesis was opened on September 26.

The World Latvian Art Center in Cēsis has been operating for seven years. It collects and displays works of art created by Latvians during their emigration.
