NNew York (AP) – From the garbage monster Oskar and his neighbors from “Sesame Street” to the giant balloons in the traditional Thanksgiving Parade: An exhibition in New York gives an overview of the marionettes and puppets in the metropolis.
The show “Puppets of New York”, which opened on Friday, tells the “extraordinary, surprising and diverse story of the quirkiest residents of New York,” said the Museum of the City of New York on Central Park in Manhattan.
The metropolis is “a world capital of puppetry, where different communities and traditions come together and work together and new innovations for this art form are born,” said museum director Whitney Donhauser. In addition to the marionettes and puppets themselves, videos, photos and other documents can be seen in the exhibition.
