“Conference” is divided into five pairs of artists who are looking for references to a pseudo-theory in each other’s works of art, the portal “Delfi” informs the foundation “Art needs space“representative Katrīna Jaunupe.

The artist Baiba Baiba will perform in tandem with Anna Malicka, Katrīna Neiburgs and Estere Grāvere in the conference with “reports” in pseudoscience, Krišs Salmanis together with “GolfClayderman”, Ivars Grāvlejs and Jānis Šneiders, while Michael Fischer ‘s pseudo – scientific theory will be interpreted by artist Kerija Arne.

The conference, which is divided into five thematic blocks, is attended by five recognized and five younger artists in order to promote cooperation and exchange of experiences between artists of different generations, explains Jaunupe. In these pairs, the senior artist will offer the younger to interpret an existing work of art, finding and attracting a new pseudo-scientific theory, and the theories will be presented at the conference through the works in the exhibition. The topics discussed at the conference are not revealed in advance, maintaining the conspiratorial atmosphere embodied by the frightening charm of pseudoscience.

Luīze Rukšāne, the curator of the art event, warns: “If you are told at the entrance to the Academy of Sciences that there is no such exhibition hall on the second floor – don’t believe it! In such situations, find a python, wake him up and then slip.”

The exhibition will be open to spectators until October 2 this year in the exhibition hall of the second floor of the Latvian Academy of Sciences every working day from 9 am to 5 pm, while the opening ceremony of the conference will take place on September 2 from 5 pm to 8 pm. but after the opening of the exhibition, it will be possible to visit anyone interested by using a face mask in the exhibition space.

The group’s exhibition is organized by the Foundation “Art Needs Space”. Interpretation as a communication tool for visual arts has always been the focus of the Art Needs Space Foundation. Through this interpretive approach, the curator aims to offer an artistic event that encourages its visitors to think about the authenticity or absurdity of the information offered, scientific methods and their meanings, the existence of objective truth, fake news and the difference between reliable or unreliable sources of information. It is for this reason that the Latvian Academy of Sciences has been conceptually chosen as the venue for the exhibition.

The architect of the exhibition is Pauls Rietums, the graphic design was created by Linda Viļumsone, while the technical solutions in the exhibition were solved by Horens Stalbe.
