At the end of the 1980s, a painting studio was opened in Torņakalns under the direction of Biruta Delle, a painter in Arkadia Park. Submarine, in which Biruta Delle gathered her disciples and contemporaries for almost a decade. “Nobody knows how our brains work, that we can’t explain the subconscious with our consciousness, and therefore we can’t explain how the painting process takes place through a person,” says Biruta Delle. The artist does not like to call her students students, because she believes that it is inseparable at some point who learns from and who is inspired to work.
Ivars Aizkalns after working in the studio Submarine entered the Latvian Academy of Arts, while Māris Salmiņš left to conquer America. The artist’s son Robert Delle turned to photography last summer. Exhibition Meeting is a meeting of authors’ works after a long break, after a long absence, which has broken the previous intimacy. The latest works of the authors are exhibited in the exhibition.
