From the film Three Nuts for Cinderella, in which Šafránková appeared in the main role together with Pavel Trávníček, Moritzburg Castle can be seen costumes and original props, such as Cinderella’s saddle. An exhibition about Šafránková’s life accompanies the main exhibition. People can visit it until February 25.
“The Moritzburg Castle decided to organize the exhibition without any consultation with Mr. Abrhám Jr., who is the bearer of personality rights after his deceased mother,” said lawyer Aleš Rozehnal for CNN Prima News. According to him, the actress wanted to have at least minimal control over how the exhibition would look. “They even sell various souvenirs with her image without his consent, and I must say that they are often of very dubious quality,” Rozehnal pointed out.
The goal of the exhibition is to show the visitors who Šafránková was and how important she was to Czech viewers, said the director of the castle, Dominique Fliegerová. “We would very much like to go through this exhibition with Mrs. Šafránková’s son to explain to him what our goal is. However, we do not display any private photos as we know that she herself was shy,” she added.
The film fairy tale by director Václav Vorlíček premiered in Czechoslovak cinemas on November 16, 1973. Czechoslovak television first offered it on Christmas Day 1974. Cinderella was also a success with foreign audiences, and in Germany the fairy tale based on Božena Němcová is still a popular Christmas movie today.
