Exhibition by the students of the School of Fine Arts – 2024-02-17 09:25:32

The School of Fine Arts of the University of Ioannina is very pleased to organize the student exhibition “ANOTHER EYE” of the Photography Laboratory of the Department of Visual Arts and Art Sciences (TETET), which will be hosted at the PHOTOMETRIA PHOTOGRAPHY CENTER from 9/2 until on 3/3/2024.

Opening: Friday, February 9, 2024, 8:00 p.m.

Another look

The exhibition “Another Look” in which active students, as well as TETET graduates of the School of Fine Arts of the University of Ioannina participate, aims to highlight young creativity and the variety of works that can be produced, having photography as an expressive medium. Depending on the temperament, imagination, experiences and technical skill of each student, it is found that there are no limits to the ways in which we can capture the world, visible and invisible, that surrounds us. The theme of the exhibition is exactly that: The many and different ways in which we can depict what happens around us, what we feel, what we are. Everything is photographable, as long as we find a way to approach them: the electric pylons of PPC, the university library, a family moment, a woman walking down the street, the portrait of father, grandmother, grandfather, friends, a still life, the workplace, our self-portrait, our private space, our body, etc. The “other look” is the different, the personal, the subversive look that reveals to us what we never imagined could exist. The “other look” is the one that proves to us that the world is not closed, compact in itself, bounded in molds and sealed, as many believe, but that on the contrary, as open and malleable, it is amenable to many and different interpretations. The “other look” reveals to us that the world is a fluid that is shaped each time according to the creative imagination of the subject-artist, it is the curious look at everything that surrounds us, it is the surprise of the philosopher who looks at the world as if it was the first time and he wonders about the reason for the existence of things (why does everything exist?).
