The pilot ‘exercise to music with Parkinson’s disease’ ended last week. What a beautiful group of people!
Very grateful for their choice to ‘dare’ to participate. And how nice that they even chose to exercise more during the rest of the week.
Thank you Sport2000 Leusden for making the group room available. And also my colleague Miriam Loef for the hospitality that these people found very pleasant.
Another block of 5 lessons will start on January 11, 2024. Then I will pay attention to moving to music, but also a bit of play and appropriate strength training. Info? [email protected]
Thank you Jettie Van Koot for the review. You have described exactly what the purpose of the pilot was.
Review ‘To be honest, I had doubts when I read Martine’s article in the newspaper. I thought it would be fun, moving or dancing to music for people with Parkinson’s disease. But could I still do that?
I was diagnosed with the disease almost five years ago and I had not become any more flexible or fitter since then.
I knew that exercise is very important for Parkinson’s patients, but give it a try!
Despite my hesitation, I signed up. As soon as I arrived, my doubts disappeared. Martine welcomed us with coffee or tea, and a big smile! She told us something about herself and asked us to do the same. The ice was broken.
The lesson started and it was immediately clear that everyone could participate. Martine immediately adapted the steps and exercises to the level of each person.
And we as a group had respect for each other. The atmosphere was very good, jokes were made. And I had a big smile on my face at the end of the class.
I would like to say to people who read this: Just do it, take that first step.
