Exemption from social security contributions from June to the end of the year, as well as the parking benefit? The spokesperson for SMEs urges senators to take into account the demands expressed by representatives of, inter alia, the tourism industry. Tomorrow the Senate is to vote on the amendments of the national economy committee.
Exemption from ZUS until the end of the year. An SME spokesman appeals on behalf of entrepreneurs from various industries
Work is underway in the Senate on an act that will enable some entrepreneurs exemption from social security contributions for three months (from June to August this year) and the receipt of a parking benefit. At the moment, it seems unlikely that anything will change in the law, but the spokesman for SMEs calls on senators (who are to vote tomorrow for amendments proposed by one of the committees) to take into account the demands of the representatives of the sectors affected by the law. The authors of these postulates are, inter alia, president of the Chamber of Tourism of the Republic of Poland, presidents of the Lower Silesian and Krakow Tourist Chambers or representatives of the informal Bottom Up Initiative of Rescue Tourism. What do they expect?
First of all – that the exemption from ZUS contributions should be extended until the end of the year, and not by three months as in the current wording of the draft. Additionally – so that more entrepreneurs could take advantage of this possibility. Among them there would be tourist intermediaries, hotels and accommodation facilities or, for example, entrepreneurs whose main activity is the activity of other transport agencies. However, what is equally interesting, the exemption from ZUS by the end of the year would also be available to … advertising agencies.
Not only the exemption from ZUS until the end of the year, but also – a standstill benefit
But that’s not all. The demands also include standstill benefit – which, in the opinion of the authors of the proposals, should also be paid by the end of the year (from June). As in the case of exemption from ZUS, the authors of the postulates also demand that the list of PKD codes entitling to benefits be extended. Among them there would be, for example, advertising agencies, but also – the activities of internet portals or “other activities related to sport”. When it comes to the criterion of a decrease in revenues (it must be met to be able to apply for a parking benefit), according to entrepreneurs, the decrease in revenues from the most important months for tourism should be taken into account.
The above-mentioned postulates are supported by the SME Ombudsman.
Changes unlikely
However, the inclusion of the postulates seems unlikely. For the state, this would mean at least doubling the cost of support. In addition, it should also be remembered that the tourism industry has also benefited from the Polish Tourist Voucher. Moreover, many travel companies do not generate too high revenues in the fall and winter months; for the government it will be another argument not to extend support.
