Luck salvation. An execution of a convicted serial killer was called off Wednesday after a medical team failed to administer the fatal dose to the inmate within the legal time frame, prison system officials said in USA.
It was about Thomas Creech73, who was going to be executed at 10:00 a.m. local time (17:00 GMT), but the execution of the death sentence was canceled an hour later, according to the Idaho Department of Corrections (IDOC) in a statement.
The death sentence expired after it could not be applied within the regulatory time
IDOC Director Josh Tewalt said that “after consulting with the chief physician, it was determined that the medical team could not establish an intravenous line, making execution impossible.
“As a result of this, the death sentence will expire”he added, noting that the next steps will now need to be considered by the state of Idaho.
Creech was sentenced on charges of murdering two people but during his trial, he confessed to killing up to 42 people in several states. In 2024, he is the death sentence prisoner who has spent the most years in prison.

These types of events had already occurred in the past. The most recent case was in November 2022, when it was scheduled that Kenneth Smithanother convicted murderer, was given the lethal injection but the medical team failed to administer the injection.
However, it should be noted that Smith was finally executed last January of this year in what was the first execution in the country carried out with nitrogen gas; a measure that was considered experimental and that still receives some rejection from the general public because it is something unknown.
