The Iranian government has announced it has executed a protester amid protests over the death of a woman arrested for wearing a scarf. Protesters in Iran have been sentenced to death since last month, but according to local media this is the first time they have been executed.
In Iran, protests against the regime continued for nearly three months over the death of a woman arrested by police in September for wearing a scarf inappropriately.
At least 458 protesters were killed by security forces by 7, according to Norwegian human rights group Iran Human Rights.
In addition, many protesters were arrested and prosecuted and the Iranian judiciary announced on the 8th that it had executed a man who had participated in the demonstration in the capital Tehran in September.
The man was sentenced to death for disturbing social order by blocking roads and stabbing security officers with a knife, damaging public order.
Iranian courts have handed down death sentences to protesters since November, but according to local media, this is the first time an execution has been carried out during the protests.
