‘Blind Married’ couple Candice and Marijn not only have a big heart for each other, but also for their animals. Added up, they share their house in Binkom with seven four-legged friends. A place for a second dog seems reserved, a baby is waiting for a while. They tell that in the first episode of Known Viervoeters, a new HLN Original video series.

At the Lenaerts-Martens house, animals are central. Even before their ‘Blind Marijn’ participation, Candice and Marijn took their animals to Binkom. She her cats Coco and Chanel, he his cat duo Yvette and Marcel. Their two ponies Fenga and Jefke and dog Thor complete the gang. Does another baby fit into that picture? In the HLN Original series ‘Bekende Viervoeters’, the couple is presented with the dilemma: “A second dog or a child?” Marijn immediately reacts convinced: “We are not working on that baby yet, so maybe a second dog will come sooner.” To which Candice smiles: “My spiral is still in it.”

“We are not immediately thinking of children, we will wait a little longer with that. A second dog is also not on the agenda for the time being, we currently have enough pets,” Candice tells us. So they come first. “We fully support the idea of adopting animals instead of buying them. We want to pass on that message.”

A happy home for the animals is a happy home for the owners. Candice gave up her job as a teacher last year to pursue her dream. She founded ‘FAZENNA by Candice’, an online clothing store entirely in the colorful style of Candice. “I love teaching, but I felt it was time for something new. It has been one of the best decisions of my life.”

Candice and Marijn are further presented with several difficult dilemmas in the ‘Known Quadrupeds’ episode. And those are not the cat for the animal lovers. “Your dog or your partner?”, a heartbreaking choice to which Marijn comes up with a romantic answer. Because what if the world ends and you can only take one person with you on a sailing boat? “Then I’ll stay with my dog and partner,” he says.

In the HLN original series ‘Bekende Viervoeters’, Laurence Van Tongerloo visits BVs and their most loyal friends. Laurence herself goes through life as dogfluencer† Her love for the animals resulted in a cookbook for dogs and now a second season of the web series. Together with BVs she has a mission: to encourage people to adopt an animal from a shelter instead of buying it. “My biggest message is: please take care of your animals and know what you’re getting into,” it sounds. The first episode promises a lot of fun: “Candice and Marijn had a friendly atmosphere. I had to remind myself every now and then that I was on an interview and not visiting friends,” she recalls.
