My first visit to the Oval Office took place a few days after the election, when, following a long tradition, Michelle and I were invited by President Bush and his wife Laura to a tour of our upcoming home. Michelle and I drove a Secret Service car down the curved road around the South Lawn to the entrance of the White House, trying to process the fact that we would be living here in less than three months.
