Interviewed exclusively by the director of Tg1, Rosario Fiorello addresses various topics, talking about his career, some public figures and even politics. And about the latter he also reveals an unpublished detail: they proposed that he actively engage, but he didn’t feel ready to take that path.
Fiorello and politics
“If they asked me to join politics? When I was in Milan yes, Berlusconi was there at the time, we worked together with him so it happened”, Fiorello tells the director of the Tg1 Gian Marco Chiocci during the program “I’ll talk tonight.” A role, that of senator or deputy, that the artist did not feel ready to cover. “I wouldn’t be capable of it,” he confesses today. “I’m part of the old guard, not that I want to compare myself to those greats, but at the time we didn’t know who Walter Chiari was voting for. I want to do entertainment and not politics”, he adds.
Precisely to maintain this neutrality, Fiorello does not answer when asked who his vote is for. “I will never tell you. Do you want to know who I voted for? In the last three elections I changed sides twice. Who will I vote for in the European elections? I will call you as soon as I leave the booth to tell you who I voted for”, Chiocci replies to director. “I don’t have a fixed vote. If I like a person I vote for that person. The last three times, I voted twice for one side and once for another side. I vote for idea not the deployment, I changed this year”, he confesses at the end.
The opinion on Meloni
Still remaining on the topic of politics, Fiorello also makes some comments on the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, a character that the showman has known for some time. In the past, in fact, a Giorgia Meloni had acted as nanny to Angelica, the artist’s daughter.
“Meloni as a babysitter? You should ask my wife. She says she was very, very goodhe studied while he was with the child, he didn’t let her play with dolls, but he loved Lego, he built…. However, a nice memory, nothing to say about Giorgetta”, he declares.
The career, the regrets and the last joke
During the interview Fiorello also talks about his own career, starting from the first important works. “My first Sanremo was one of the worst moments of my life, I worked at Radio Deejay and I should have gone around doing interviews and while I was there, the news arrived of the death of my father who was very young, he was 58 years old”, he says. “Mike Bongiorno and Maurizio Costanzo, among the missing characters, are the ones I miss a lot, I had the most to do with them”, he then goes on to explain.
There is certainly one of the well-known characters to whom he feels most connected Pippo Baudo, “a figure of reference for all Sicilians who have undertaken this career. I had the honor of knowing him and being his friend”. Another dear friend is Amadeus.
“My biggest regret is… not having studied as I would have liked because it was a question of attendance, when I went to school I did well”, he confesses. Then, the revelation: “I have reached 63 years old, 64 in May, and I believe we are approaching the moment in which I I will withdraw. I’m not one of those who have a super long career, let’s say that between… whatever, let’s not say anything, we’re not people of our word. I once said ‘I’ll stop at 50’ and I’m already 63, so…”.
