Go Ahead Eagles have escaped a cup disgrace. When visiting Koninklijke HFC, they took the 1-0 in the 85th minute, but in injury time they managed to score 1-1. In extra time, the Deventers rolled over the amateur team, partly due to a stupid red card: 1-4. Vitesse also escaped unscathed earlier in the evening, while SC Heerenveen and Almere City had an easy cup evening.
Royal HFC – Go Ahead Eagles 1-4
Go Ahead Eagles also had a very difficult time with a tough amateur team. The Deventers were still faced with a 0-0 score after an hour of play. René Hake’s team created some opportunities in the first company. Bobby Adyekane saw his effort from close range roll just wide. Philippe Rommens came closest to a goal in the last fifteen minutes.
His free kick exploded on the inside of the post, but did not go in. In the absolute final phase, Koninklijke HFC thought they had completed a stunt. A long ball was defended terribly poorly by the away team, after which Yassine Bouchnafa took advantage: 1-0. However, in injury time, Gerrit Nauber headed in the equalizer, which meant that the Beaver match went into extra time.
In extra time, Koninklijke HFC was down to ten men. Xander van den Berg was able to attack from behind after an incomprehensible and rash sliding slide. Go Ahead benefited almost immediately from the man more situation. A shot by Oliver Edvardsen from the edge of sixteen was too powerful for the HFC goalkeeper: 1-2. After some fiddling at the back, Sylla Sow decided the match: 1-3. Thibo Baeten ultimately took care of the final score: 1-4.
SC Heerenveen – VVV-Venlo 5-1
SC Heerenveen already dealt with VVV-Venlo in the first half. Pelle van Amersfoort personally defeated the Venlo team with a hat trick. The born Heemskerker nodded in the 1-0 from close range, after which he also doubled the score from a reintroduced corner. Van Amersfoort made the third just before half time, with a shot in the left corner: 3-0. Espen van Ee made it 4-0 with his first goal in a Heerenveen shirt. Sulyman Allouch scored the goal of honor in the last fifteen minutes, after his shot bounced in. The final score went to Daniel Karlsbakk: 5-1.
OJC Rosmalen – Almere City FC 1-8
Almere City also had an easy evening in the TOTO KNVB Cup. Kornelius Hansen scored the opening goal in the fifth minute, after which the Norwegian also scored the second goal. Mouad Hassan returned the favor on behalf of OJC Rosmalen, but the Eredivisie players achieved an easy 1-8 victory through Thomas Robinet, Hansen, who completed his hat trick, Yoann Cathline, Lance Duijvenstein and Milan Corryn.
RKSV Green Star – Vitesse 0-1
A poorly playing Vitesse did not score in the first half against RSKV Groene Ster. Philip Cocu’s team did not become really dangerous either. The Arnhem team did not get further than a few cracked attempts by Million Manhoef and chances for Amine Boutrah and Said Hamulic.
Even in the second half, the Eredivisie side did not create any real good chances against the third division player, except for a shot by Manhoef that hit the crossbar. There was another big blemish on the evening for Vitesse. Miliano Jonathans had to leave the field on a stretcher with an apparently serious knee injury. In the final phase, Vitesse was finally able to cheer. Dominik Oroz scored the only winning goal in the 83rd minute: 0-1.
