Daugavpils theater will start the season in September, offering performances of the repertoire, while the first new productions will be available from October, theater representative Janina Ivanova informed LETA agency.
Director Liena Šmukste will start work on her first production in the Daugavpils theater very soon, Agnese Rutkēviča will create the dramaturgical material for this performance.
In October, the premiere of the Russian-language production of the play “Truce” by the Ukrainian playwright Aleksej Kuraleh, directed by Maris Korsiets, is expected.
In the first half of the season, the play “Macbeth” directed by Oleg Shaposhnikov, created in collaboration with the British educator, actor and director Paul Goodwin, will be submitted to the audience for evaluation.
On the other hand, Ivars Lūsis will stage the play “Captive of the Snow”, in which he will play together with Jūlija Lāha. Also, this season, choreographer Irina Bogeruk will stage a new dance show in the theater’s big hall.
In September, the Daugavpils theater will go on a trip to Lithuania – the play “Cilvēks no Podolska” will participate in the “Trans/misijos Balticum” festival in Vilnius.
A trip to Riga will not be missed this fall either, says Ivanova. The audience of the capital will be offered another colorful production of the Daugavpils Theater in Latgale – an almost criminal comedy “Divejis vyrtuvė, naskaitūt nabašnīku” or “Two in the kitchen, not counting the corpse”.
The enrollment of the Daugavpils theater actor course is still ongoing at the Stanislav Brok Daugavpils Music High School. The duration of the educational program “Theatre Art” is two years, the qualification to be obtained is actor. The professional education of young actors is taken care of by the actors of the Daugavpils Theater and the directors working here, as well as invited theater art industry professionals from other Latvian theaters and foreign countries. You can submit your application to Stanislav Broka Daugavpils Music High School until the end of August. Tickets for the performances in September are already on sale. They can be purchased at the Daugavpils theater box office, “Biļešu paradīze” box offices throughout Latvia and on the Internet at “bilesuparadize.lv”.
