Exciting Recap of the 6th Round of the Coupe de France and What’s Next for Ligue 2 BKT Clubs

The 6th round of the Coupe de France, the last before the entry into the running of Ligue 2 BKT clubs, started Friday evening with FC Martigues-RC Pays de Grasse (1-0) before continuing all week -end.

For a few thousand amateur players, it is the final step before seeing the professional world join them in the 2023-2024 edition of the Coupe de France. Ligue 2 BKT will arrive next month during the 7th round, Ligue 1 Uber Eats at the beginning of January during the 32nd finals. For the dream to take shape, we have to do the work on the lawns of France this weekend.

The 6th round started on Friday October 27 and will continue on Saturday then Sunday. Having entered the running in the previous round, FC Martigues was the first resident of National, which lost two representatives in mid-October, to open the ball with the reception of RC Pays de Grasse, a National 2 club. The Provençaux suffered but did not stumble (1-0). Thirteen other National teams know that they will not have an easy task defending their skin against the little ones who have only one wish: to make them falter.

Departmental 2 teams in the running, i.e. the 10th level of French football.

The most unbalanced duel will take place in the Cher where Châteauneuf-sur-Cher receives the Berrichonne de Châteauroux which six divisions separate (Departmental 1 vs National). During the last two rounds, the amateurs brought down clubs from Regional 3 (SPC Vatan) and Regional 2 (Le Richelais Foot) at the end of the penalty shootout.

Finally, Cholet and Le Mans face off on Saturday evening for the only confrontation between two representatives of the 3rd level of French football (6:30 p.m., live on FFFtv).

The qualifiers will meet on Wednesday, November 1 at the National Football Center in Clairefontaine for the draw for the 7th and 8th rounds.
