We are talking about the prologue before the Commonwealth Cup in Ufa.

Russian biathlon continues to promote a new format – prologue.
The pre-start competitions in Khanty-Mansiysk received a lot of positive feedback. The 100 m sprint with elimination was remembered for its tense confrontations, Alexander Povarnitsyn in the image of the Joker, a bright poster from the “Children of Alexander Pak” team, and the New Year’s atmosphere. The prize money was also pleasing, although it faded into the background that day.

Frost attacked Russian cross-country skiing and biathlon. Should athletes run in minus 30 degrees?
The next prologue was supposed to take place in Tyumen, but the weather did not allow not only it, but also the entire stage of the Russian Cup. Winter came to its mercy only before the start of the Commonwealth Cup in Ufa, although it was not possible to completely escape the sub-zero temperature. The athletes warmed up as best they could between their shooting duels.
Yes, a shooting duel took place in Ufa, since the types of the program alternate. The rules came up like this:
— Athletes may use no more than 13 rounds of ammunition (two clips and three additional rounds) to hit targets when shooting from the prone and standing positions. If the athlete does not close all the prone targets, having used all additional cartridges, he must stop shooting at the prone target and move on to the standing target.
If both athletes hit all the targets, the winner is determined by the time from start to finish. If one of the athletes does not hit all the targets, the winner is the athlete who hit all the targets. In the event that both athletes do not hit all the targets, the winner is the athlete who hits the most targets. If the number of targets hit is the same, then the winner is determined by time.
Ilya Trifanov became the presenter at the stadium, and there were no commentators for the broadcast, as in the sprint. This made it a little uncomfortable. The frost seemed to have affected the equipment, so not all of Trifanov’s words were heard clearly, plus the sound hurt the ears, which is never clear for presenters right at the scene of events.
There were only a few spectators at the stadium. So few that everyone stood close to the shooting positions rather than sitting in the stands. Until Trifanov said that biathletes could be supported with voices and applause, it was very quiet at the shooting range. Because of this, the festivity that many biathlon fans are accustomed to within the framework of foreign commercial competitions, where there is a shooting tournament, has disappeared.
The graphics were a little lame. It was not immediately possible to see one of the duelists shoot.
This time the athletes did not bother about their images. This made the tournament completely formal. Thus, the most unusual person at the stadium turned out to be the head of the press service of the Russian Biathlon Union, Sergei Averyanov. We like the Eisbar hat with hair! By the way, he interviewed athletes during pauses, which is actively practiced at the same international festivals.
The shooting duels themselves showed that it is not so often that our biathletes manage to shoot quickly and accurately.
In the women’s quarterfinals, only Anastasia Shevchenko managed without special stages. She beat Elizaveta Kaplina.

Coach of the Belarusian biathlon team: It’s difficult with cartridges. Every year they become more expensive
Not without problems, but the following went on: Victoria Slivko (defeated Anastasia Grishina), Lyubov Kalinina (was faster than Kristina Reztsova) and Tamara Derbusheva (defeated Ekaterina Noskova).
In the men’s quarterfinals, Eduard Latypov was the most accurate, beating Karim Khalili. Kirill Bazhin did better than Pyotr Pashchenko, and Anton Babikov did better than Daniil Serohvostov. The most intense duel was between Mikhail Burundukov and Roman Eremin. Both were level on the prone, then Burundukov pulled ahead, but on the stand Eremin caught up with him. Both closed the last target almost simultaneously, but the representative of the “Kings of Quiet Hour” team, the Chipmunks, pressed the red “stop” button faster.
Of all the semi-finals, only Kalinina, who beat Derbusheva, managed without additional rounds. The rest have this: Shevchenko was able to beat Slivko, Bazhin defeated Burundukov, Babikov became the best in the fight against Latypov.

Alexander Loginov: in such frosts I wear two, three, even four panties!
The duel for bronze and 30 thousand rubles turned out to be nerve-wracking for the spectators. Slivko (“Kings of the Quiet Hour”) and Burundukov turned out to be the owners of a good sum of money.
In the finale, Babikov (“Kings of the Quiet Hour”), who was shot by Alexander Loginov himself, simply tore Bazhin to pieces (“One right hand”). The world champion knocked out 10 out of 10 as calmly as possible.
The girls found room for drama. Shevchenko (“One Right”) shot faster than Kalinina (“Chuck-Chuck Norris”), to win the stand-up she had to hit the last target, but then it started. Shevchenko was so overcome with courage that it was not a plus for her. Three additional rounds and shouts from team captain Irina Kazakevich asking him to calm down did not help. Although Kalinina missed one target because there were no special stages left, she was able to unexpectedly win. Shevchenko lost on time.
The champions of the shooting duel received 50 thousand rubles. For second place, the biathletes were awarded 40 thousand.
